A 1 MW Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Power Plant has been successfully installed at TNPL Unit-1 (July 2025) and TNPL Unit-2 (October 2025) — two facilities of Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd. (TNPL) located at Kagithapuram, Tamil Nadu. The system generates clean, renewable electricity for captive consumption using high-efficiency solar PV modules, grid-connected inverters, and an optimized rooftop layout to maximize energy yield while utilizing available roof space effectively.

Contribution to Energy Sustainability

1. Renewable Energy Generation

The rooftop solar plant generates electricity using solar radiation — a renewable and inexhaustible energy source. Unlike fossil-fuel-based power generation, solar energy does not require fuel consumption, making it a long-term sustainable solution.

Annual Clean Energy Generation: ~1.4–1.6 million kWh per year (depending on solar irradiance and system performance) from each installation.
